Manchester City are reportedly ready to offer players to Newcastle United in a bid to win the race for the transfer of Sandro Tonali this summer.
Pep Guardiola’s side are potentially looking to sign two new midfielders this summer, with Tonali on their list alongside Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.
That’s according to a report from TEAMtalk, which states that Man City could try bringing Tonali‘s £100m price tag down by including one of four players in a swap deal.

Those players include James Trafford, Rico Lewis, Issa Kabore, and Juma Bah, according to the report, which also mentions other big clubs potentially in the mix for Tonali.
Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are also mentioned by TEAMtalk as potential suitors for Tonali, with the player’s agent sounding out these teams as possible destinations.
There has been a lot of speculation about the Italy international’s future ahead of the summer, with just some of the recent reports detailed below…
Still, it sounds like City are serious about making major changes in midfield this summer and they have the resources to give Newcastle a tempting offer.
If MCFC were able to offer a decent amount of cash and a top player like Trafford, then that would surely be hard for the Magpies to turn down.
We’ve previously scored Tonali to Arsenal as a weak fit using our Transfer Fit rating system, which you can find out more about here.
But how about City, who arguably need a midfielder more, and who have the potential to bring his considerable transfer fee down by including players in the deal?
| Sandro Tonali | TOTAL SCORE: 14/25 |
| Transfer fee | ** |

These factors certainly bump Tonali’s score up a bit, though he’s not quite in the same league as some other midfielders on the market this summer.
Anderson has shown more potential with his performances for Forest and England, while others like Adam Wharton are also younger and look like having a higher ceiling.
